Appointment of Street & Grounds Cleaner Employee

Further to the recent recruitment exercise we are pleased to welcome Emma Jones to the team.

Emma already runs 2 voluntry groups that opporate in the parish: Credenhill Bloomers Group and Hereford Clean Up Group and is very passionate about improving the environment and spreading awareness of environmental issues.

Going forward we will be working with the Schools and Businesses to improve areas of the village outside of our control and to educate youngsters about the environmental impact of litter and dog fouling. We will also be increasing our social media presence to make people aware of problem areas and will be actively reporting dog fouling to Herefordshire Council to increase Dog Warden activety in the Parish. As a result, we hope to see reductions in the volumes of litter and dog fouling in the parish.

We hope that you will all join us in wishing Emma good luck and supporting her in her new role.

St Michael’s Hospice Road Closures

On Sunday 8th May, St Michael’s Hospice will be holding RUN Hereford, an annual event comprising of Half Marathon, 10K and 5K.

Each year, 1,200 runners and their supporters help make this one of our biggest fundraisers, contributing around £60,000 towards the Hospice’s care costs.

The start and finish has moved to the Livestock Market on Roman Road (A4103). To make this day as safe and enjoyable for everyone taking part, we have arranged road closures throughout the morning and early afternoon along the following routes:

•    Stretton Sugwas roundabout (A480 and A4103) to the Roman Road junction with Tillington Road (opposite Ned Potter Ltd) from 9.30am to 2.00pm.

•    Tillington Road between the Roman Road (A4103) and the crossroads near Burghill Valley golf course between 10am and 11am.

•    Crowmoor Lane (near Burghill Valley Golf Club) – all directions 10.00am to 2.00pm.

A map is included.

Diversions will be in place, with marshals on hand to answer any queries and allow access to and from homes and businesses when deemed safe to do so.

Please be aware that the 5K event, featuring 300 runners of all ages, will take place on the Roman Road between the Stretton Sugwas roundabout and the Tillington turning. This means there will be a strict road closure in place with no access between 10.20am and 11.20am.

Every year, runners tell us how much they appreciate the support from spectators along the route, and we know they would appreciate your backing again this year.

We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause, and thank you for your support and understanding. If you have any queries, please contact me using the details below.

Kind regards,

Matt Ashcroft

Get Active – Green Spaces Covid Recovery programme

Get Active – Credenhill

We are pleased to report that the Roman Park Outdoor Fitness Zones are now officially open for use!

Childrens Fitness Zone and Table Tennis
Adults Fitness Zone

Big thanks to Herefordshire Community Foundation for their support in helping to fund the project, without which it would not have been possible at this scale. Big thanks also to Broxap (Sunshine Gym) for working with us on this project and delivering it in such a short timescale and to an excellent standard.

We will now be looking to actively promote use of the equipment and looking at the next stage of bringing the facilities at the Roman Park up to modern day standards, with a particular focus on the cildren’s play equipment which is significantly limited and outdated.

Background

The Roman Park is one of our key community assets and we have been working hard behind the scenes to come up with a plan to deliver improvements to the Roman Park for a number of years. During the COVID 19 pandemic the Sports Facilities (Changing Rooms and Fields) were closed to the public due to Government guidelines, this meant that the Parish Council received Grants due to those closures. We successfully applied for a grant of £10,000 from Herefordshire Community Foundation in December 2021 which allowed us to jointly fund the Outdoor Fitness Zones. The total allocated to the project is £28,000 which includes Archaeology Fees as the site is of significant historical importance (see Roman Credenhill for more details). Sadly no significant finds were made on this occasion; we will continue to work with Herefordshire Council’s Archeaologist, Tim Hoverd BA ACIf on future projects at the Roman Park in the hope that we will uncover Roman Treasures!

The fitness zones form part of a wider plan to improve the sports and leisure facilities at the Roman Park. The draft plan has been developed by the Parish Council to ensure that if additional housing is built within the Parish, then funds can be applied for from the developers for these improvements to be funded by them (known as Section 106 Agreements). In addition to this we have been actively applying for Grants to deliver on the wider plan including tree planting through the Tree Council which was completed in December 2021.

If you are interested in helping the Parish Council with this project then please consider joining the Parish Council as we have 2 Vacancies, Contact Us for more information.
