Changes to Water Abstraction Limits

The Law is changing for people who abstract water. Can you help us let people know? Previously exempt water users may now have to apply for a licence.

The new rules will better protect the environment by helping to balance the needs of water users, whilst also protecting water supplies and the plants and animals that rely on them.

Please find attached a newsletter providing the latest update on new rules on water use and abstraction licensing, for your information. As mentioned in the newsletter we now have an online information page about this, which we will keep updated on a regular basis. The link to this page is https://consult.environment-agency.gov.uk/environment-and-business/removing-previously-exempt-abstraction-activities/

Local Pupil Herefordshire Flag Finalist

Herefordshire is one of the few counties without its own flag and a competition to design a flag for the county was launched earlier this year. The competition received 692 entries and has now been narrowed down to just 5 finalists.

St Mary’s Primary School have confirmed that local pupil Phoebe Holden’s entry to the Herefordshire Flag competition has been shortlisted with 4 other entries.

The flag design is of an apple surrounded by a design representing Herefordshire’s black and white houses.

Design B by Phoebe Holden

You can vote for your favorite design here: https://www.the-shire.co.uk/herefordshireflag

Good luck Phoebe!

Thank you

Just a few words of thanks to local resident Sue Edwards who took the time to research and write an article about Credenhill’s Ancient Marker Stone.

The article can be found here and will be published in the October 2019 edition of the CCN:

If anyone else has any useful information about anything to do with Credenhill, past or present then please email it to clerk@credenhill-pc.org.uk

Armed Forces veterans survey

Herefordshire’s Armed Forces Covenant Partnership is committed to improve the support available for Armed Forces veterans in Herefordshire. By completing this survey, you’ll be helping to make sure that they work more effectively to ensure the right support and services are available, in the right places at the right time.  They are keen to hear from Herefordshire Armed Forces veterans who have served one day or more at any time in the past and in any occupation in the Royal Navy, Army, or Royal Air Force (including Reservists and National Service personnel).

•             The survey will take no more than 20 minutes to complete

•             It will ask about your time in the Armed Forces and civilian life after leaving

•             They are interested in any challenges you may have faced or are currently facing

•             They need to hear from as many people as possible so please spread the word – your voice matters

•             If you are unable to complete the survey yourself, you are welcome to ask a relative, friend, or colleague to complete it on your behalf

•             The closing date for replies is 7 October 2019

•             Please follow the link below which will take you to the online survey – https://surveys.herefordshire.gov.uk/armed-forces-veterans/
